A Tunisian Journalist Call, via Le M.U.R./Facebook

You are a Tunisian street artist or one of your friends is... or maybe you have a good knowledge
of the GRAFFITI / URBAN ART scene in Tunisia... Will you please be so kind to leave a comment on
LE M.U.R. right HERE?
A Tunisian journalist - aiming to present an overview of Street Arts spreading around in Tunisia
since the spring revolution and the departure of Ben Ali - will get in touch with you.

... Throughout Tunisia, giant murals of ordinary people replaced large portraits of Ben Ali.
In the gutted ruins of government buildings, the burned husks of presidential palaces, and other locations like
billboards, walls, along streets and the Porte de France, in Tunis, they aimed to provoke discussion ‘in a world
turned upside down or inside out’, transforming the streets and areas of social conflict into new arenas for
discourse and dialogue."

Any question about URBAN ART in Tunisia... like why? when? where? how?
Find the answers on Brandon Letzinger's essay 'Creating the Political: Street Art after the 2011
Tunisian revolution.

Bahrain 6 - Shaikh Isa House in Muharraq

The house of Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa is situated in the heart of Muharrak, the old
capital of Bahrain, near to the Grand Mosque and is considered to be one of the oldest
houses in town.

[See more pictures in the slideshow].
The house was built at the end of the 18th century by Shaikh Hassan bin Ahmed Al Fatih
who lived there as well as his sons and grandsons.
Later on, the house became with king Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa a residence and a
government centre from 1869 to 1932.
Its huge walls, the small doors and the wind tower were conceived as
a protection from the heat in summer and the severe cold in winter.

Bahrain 5 - The Fort near Karranah

The Fort - Qal'at - of Bahrain [قلعة البحرين], is located by the sea in the northern coast
of the Kingdom
of Bahrain.

[Slideshow by G@ttogiallo]
It is one of the Kingdom's most important historical and archaeological sites where
excavations carried out since 1954 have unearthed antiquaries from an artificial mound
of 12 m height containing seven stratified layers, created by various occupants from
2300 BC up to the 18th century, including
Kassites, Portuguese and Persians.
It was once the capital of the Dilmun civilization and was inscribed as a UNESCO
World Heritage Site in 2005.

September 2011 - Straight from Granny's in Sardinia...

Mostly organized from Paris through Twitter and Facebook - but also locally advertised,
the 5-day old items' sale at Granny's has been a village attraction and a success story...

Here's a slideshow of a 2-day sale that I had, in fact, to extend to five days: quite
simply,
people kept coming driven by word of mouth and curiosity.
[Except for the granite building, sold a few days ago, the property is still for sale].

Shared Gardens in Paris

35 are listed
here, but there are actually 45 shared
gardens in town and many others are due to open
in the near future.

The one showed below is located midway on the hights of Ménilmontant,
the highest Paris' hill, at 315 rue des Pyrénées, in a little dead end called
cité Leroy.

(G@ttoGiallo)

Another shared garden is growing near the rue
de la Mare
, between the white footbridge and
the tunnel along the old Petite Ceinture's railway
(Paris XX).

I'm sorry, I was abroad on a mission...

... Impossible !
(abroad because out of Paris is abroad).

I was asked for an important mission in JewTown, where two guys needed a coach
for a weekly < ... > training session.

So I took a plane to go faster, but it wasn't a good idea.

Monte Narba, an abandoned mine I've recorded for you.

Monte Narba is the site of an old mine's district (silver ore) in south/east Sardinia,
Sarrabus' hills, Italy.
Closed down and deserted for too many years - it was operating mostly from 17th
to the beginning of 19th century. it will probably come back to life one of these days
as a... well, let's wait and see.

Let me show you the place... (slideshow)

(by G@ttoGiallo)

A bit of history now...
