Basquiat or the Rise and Fall of a Radiant Boy

It would be difficult not to say a word about Jean-Michel Basquiat exhibition - coming straight
from Basel and
celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the artist's birth - which 'irradiates' from
the Paris Modern Art Museum
with its unusual huge scale show.

Comprising a hundred major pieces – paintings, drawings, objects, from numerous museums
and private collections, this retrospective offers a chronological overview on Basquiat evolution
during his meteoric career from the street to the canvas and the chance to assess the painter's
contribution to art and art history.

Born in Brooklyn in 1960, Basquiat died due to a heroin overdose in New York in 1988.
He was only 27 years old.

In 1984, the Modern Art Museum had already featured Jean-Michel Basquiat alongside with
Robert Combas, Hervé Di Rosa and Keith Haring in a collective exhibition on France/USA
Free Figurative work
.

[IsTaRaI]
"Centered on a rare interview that director and friend Tamra Davis shot with Basquiat over twenty years ago,
This definitive documentary chronicles the meteoric rise and fall of the
young artist."
"Tamra Davis details the mysteries that surround this charismatic young man, an artist of enormous talent
whose fortunes mirrored the rollercoaster quality of the downtown scene
he seemed to embody."
- "Jean-Michel Basquiat, the Radiant Child" [wiki].

* The movie will be screened at the Museum on Thursday, October 28 at 7 pm.

October 22 update...

The queue at the entrance of the museum was still reasonable around noon, under a perfect
blue sky.
Two hours later, it had probably reached some 150 or 200 meters, but thanks to such
a weather, nobody seemed upset.

One word on the exhibition: Go! it is absolutely dazzling!

Jazz concert eve at Pascaline Mulliez gallery...

Once more, Pascaline Mulliez has put together a surprising eve, in her Griset gallery,
before the end of Erin Lawlor's work exhibition, closing next week.

Raphaël Imbert and Leïla Olivesi - playing together for the second time, performed
pieces from Dizzy Gillespie, Ornette Coleman and some of their own composition,
finishing on a touch of klezmer-jazz fusion.

Blog Action Day 2010 Water as a Human Right

Access to clean water and sanitation is a human right over objection
from
the United States. Today, nearly one billion people lack basic
access to safe drinking water. Access to clean water is not just a
human rights issue, it’s an environmental issue, an animal welfare
issue. A sustainability issue.
Water is a global issue and it affects all of us.

It is a simple truth that clean water and having a toilet and washing one’s hands help keep
one alive

How could Blogger do this to G@tto?

On 4 October, former post editor was removed and replaced with a runt whose Blogger
seems to be proud of...

I've tried the new version months ago, but altough they say it has been improved,
it is
actually less efficient and
it requires a better html knowledge than mine - and without it
I could hardly master the publication.
The miserables tools that have escaped the quarry
were not sufficient to ensure photo documents a neat layout.
For over four years I've been faithful to Blogger, at the head of three blogs. Now this was
putting me just at the door - I was so upset that I spent a good deal on WordPress...
but, thanks the Almighty, the previous one is now back online!

I hate the new Blogger post editor. How could they do this to me ?

This Nuit has been Blanche !

The first night-time trail through the streets of Paris and its contemporary-art scene

took place on 5 October 2002, and the opportunity for anyone to explore artistic
creation for a 'sleepless night' has come back every year since, usually in October.

here are some spots worth checking out between Ober and Belleville.

Great atmosphere - surfing across Le Cannibale crowd

(rue de la Fontaine au Roi), Hakima El Djoudi's video installation

(rue de la Fontaine au Roi), the Galerie Italienne

Zoo Project, on the way to Belleville, and a stunning Lang/Baumann's work

Featuring people faces at the Zèbre, with Rebecca Bournigault's real time portraits

Ubiquitous Caroline Phillips...

Who's that girl ?

... she seems to be presenting her Yoga Massala new brand (yoga video
lessons
and clothing line) at Paris' Salon ZEN, in Espace Champerret and,
at the same time, in Geneva, Switzerland, at today's
TEDx
Transmedia (see programme)... performing hurdy gurdy at 3 pm !

Then... who is she ?
