Today, on the front page of Le Figaro... "Pâques: 4.000 chrétiens à la Défense" This year, as in 2007, the Sunday following the first full moon after the beginning of spring falls on the same day in the Gregorian calendar (the Protestant and Catholic) and Julian (the Orthodox). Archbishop of Paris, Mgr André Vingt-Trois, made no reference to the scandals currently rocking the Church. According to comments reported by the official Vatican newspaper, L'Osservatore Romano, Archbishop Vingt-Trois denounced at the Mass of Holy Thursday, "an offensive aimed at destabilizing the Pope and the Church through him." SALON DE L'AGRICULTURE Short summary, in pictures :
An evening strongly tinged with sadness that emanates from the eyes of animals - except from the poultry, maybe, in an environment that is, after all, hostile for them all : people watching them only in a steak-and-roastbeef perspective.
Traditionally, at the Salon de l'Agriculture, people use to linger to taste regional specialties - wine included, we are in France, right ?
After a four-hour tour and some regional snaks here and there, my dinner theme revolved around vegetables only. ____

The Grand Mosque of Paris is an old idea from the time of the colonial France. Since 1533 - at the time of King Francois I and Caliph Suleiman the Magnificent, they wanted to build a mosque in Paris for Muslim people. It's a long story and you had to wait until 1917, when they created an association in Algiers - at that time Algeria was part of the French territory. They started to build it in 1922, and it was opened in 1926, so it's an old mosque, more than 80 years old, and it's a bit of a symbol of French Islam (more).
(oclandestin) The Institut du Monde Arabe is a centre for Arabic arts and culture. The building was designed by French architect Jean Nouvel and intended to be a dialogue between cultures. It reflects a modern interpretation of traditional Islamic art and architecture (more).
The Oberkampf-Ménilmontant-Belleville crossroads' renovation project has been effectively launched by the Mairie de Paris (the City Hall) end of June... ... and is due to be accomplished around January 2010.
