3rd Anniversary for ParisPointGriset...

... with 448 posts and 27595 visits since February 2007.
and yesterday, as a present, this :

For some reason, in a couple of days, my counter has gone crazy with your visits and went,
from an average of 50-60 per day, up to almost 300.
The main target was an old post from December 2008, relating a movie broadcasted by Arte
about the Japanese art of Shibari
. For the first time, visitors were mostly French, which is even
more surprising since the film is French and was aired on a French TV channel
.
If I still don't understand the reasons of this sudden passion for the Shibari, I sure enjoy the results.
Merci, Danke, Thanks, Bedankt, شكرا لك, Obrigado, ありがとうございました, Grazie and
Gracias to you all,
whether you are a PPG's Friend, a Follower, a Passerby or... just an Alien.

No red candles, no flowers this year, I got better in my feline bag... some chouquettes
à la crême fouettée
(cream puffs), my French version of north Italy's "bignè alla panna
montata
" !

For Asian Food Lovers...

Lost in the very heart of the Latin Quarter, Thao-Ly is a tiny 22/24
places
dégustation (mostly thai and viet food) that really deserves
a taste-test visit if you still don't know it.

All along the '70th it was a meeting point for film makers and
photographers. Cheap, fresh and extremely good, it still is one
of my favourite places.

Now kept by the previous manager's son - assisted by
a young cousin, this little restaurant - only known by
connoisseurs, keeps going confidentially...

My favourite thai soups : # 15 & 23
I won't tell you more, anyway everything's fine.

Tantalized ?
Thao-Ly

Eating Thai with a new hat on your head ?

Why not ? You can do it in rue Caffarelli, Paris III.

- First you go to # 8, at Axes et Soirs and try a few berets,
bibis, caps and capelines.
- Make your choice.

- Wear your hat and go just a bit farer, to # 18...

and here you are at Mme Shawn's !

Hold tight your hat, what happens next could bowl you over,
believe me... although I prefer Thao-Ly's thai soups !

Some Vitelotte potatoes, for a change.

Originally from Peru and Bolivia, Vitelotte is cultivated in France
since 1850 as a gourmet delicacy. In Germany it also known as
Truffle Potato.
This very rare, high valued and expensive potato variety tastes
as amazing as it looks. It is perfect for boiling, chips and salads.

Tonight they've been boiled and mashed, adding butter and milk
cream to obtain an excellent purée I'm planning to savour with
a few python
's rounds !

If G@tto were a soup...

... according to a BlogThings' Quiz, G@tto should be...
a "Tomato Soup" !

It seems G@tto is open minded and curious about the world.
He can't help but learn as much as he can about things.
He's introverted, intellectual, and introspective.
In other words, he has a big brain... and he use it.

G@tto is a bit of a culinary expert, and is an excellent cook.
He knows how to balance delicate flavors well and can whip up a mean
bowl of soup.

According to G@ttoGiallo, tomato soup is ok, but homemade !

When the unbelievable happens...

I am a gourmet and I am uncompromising on cooking matters.

Only when in Italy, I dare
to order pasta in restaurants
and pasta with lobster only
in restaurants near the sea.

So this summer I did it...
but the unbelievable happened !

Look at this lobster and bavette dish... you can see at once it's uneatable :
- overcooked bavette,
- tomato sauce looking boiled,
- and the lobster, poor sea's queen !
they definitely buried it under
a shroud of braised tomatoes !
Amen.

But, after all, Sardinia isn't (or wasn't) a fishers' island and local traditional gastronomy
rather turns around roasted meat.

I won't tell the restaurant name, because they made a commercial 'gesture', offering
a fruit salade with lemon sorbet and even a home made lemoncello.

(Passage Brady - M° Chateau-d'Eau)

Last year, on November 8th, around 3am, a major fire broke out in an apartment building
overlooking the alley's glass roof. 150 firemen had a hard work until 7 in the morning.

And now, (thanks to Victor), a bit of the daily atmosphere in Brady...

Un film d'étude réalisé par Victor Dixmier sur le passage Brady : un coin d'Inde et de Pakistan
au coeur de Paris, ses restos, son épicerie de Pondichéry, sa lumière et sa somptueuse
