Back to Nice for a little tour...

by night...
Starting at the Negresco, facing the sea,

on the Promenade des Anglais...

and its friendly welcome,

the Nice Opera from the north-east side, rue Saint François de Paule,
(architects François Aune and Charles Garnier),

a passage leading from the Cours Saleya to the quai des Etats-
Unis and the sea,

the Espace Massena, a point of view on the old town
and the Château - in daytime,

Place Massena, on the border of the Vieux Nice (the old town),

(Architect Joseph Vernier),

and the avenue Jean Médecin (a former city's mayor).

Lisbon Treaty : Who's Afraid of People Voice ?

Ireland asks France to organize new presidential elections !

... alas, this strong headline of the M'PEP (fr), a French political movement, is just a joke
to underline the absurdity of Sarkozy's request for a second Irish referendum in order
to ratify the Lisbon treaty... already massively rejected by France and Holland in 2005.

Sinn Fein eurodeputy Mary Lou McDonald pointed out that while speaking a lot about
democracy, European governments act as they were afraid of people voice.

The Storming of the Bastille

You won't believe it, but there is still someone asking for the Bastille...
meaning the original fortress...
In fact, it is still possible to see a part of the outlines of the famous fortress
on the west side of the Bastille place, marked with a special paving.

About Irish NO to the EU Treaty...

Why nobody asks the essential question :
Ireland would it be alone now rejecting the
Lisbon treaty if this one had been submitted
to a referendum in the other countries ?

Probably not.

French people said no in 2005, when asked by referendum and so did
Holland.
These people are not against European Union, they just refuse
an
anti-democratic European Constitution, now called Treaty to be more
easily accepted.

"You don't say yes to something you don't understand" said
Hugo Brady, analyst at the Centre for European Reform thinktank.

"Coup de Cœur" at 4 am...

... because a friend's friend invited an Inuit family to spend 1 month in Paris.
The two daughters will probably sing traditional throat songs, katadjak, in my fief,
maybe at "La Locandiera" (145, rue Oberkampf, Paris XI) - If it snows...
which is possible this winter.

Katadjak, or throat-singing, is a form of vocal-verbal art common to many (but not all)
Inuit (Eskimo) cultures.
Inuit throat-singing is done in the following way (click...).
